March League Updates

We’ve reached the pointy end in a number of our weekly leagues with many intriguing subplots developing. Continue reading for a wrap of all our ongoing competitions!

It’s crunch time in Elite Premier Futsal, with all sorts of possibilities heading into the final round of fixtures next week. No Chance gave their finals hopes a huge boost by beating league leaders SAINTS 6-4 in a big upset. SAINTS blew the chance to wrap up the premiership but will be assured of top spot if they avoid defeat next week against Scoregasm.

Scoregasm themselves are still in with a slim chance to qualify for the finals, but will need to beat SAINTS by a margin of eight goals or more. Unlikely – but crazier things have happened. We look forward to next week’s games to see which teams will be battling it out in the finals, all with their eyes on the $1000 winners’ prize.

In Yeronga Futsal League 1, congratulations goes to Our Mums who have cemented promotion to Elite Premier Futsal next season. They will be facing SC FC in next week’s Grand Final – with SC FC needing to win to gain promotion. Our Mums ran out 7-4 winners in the last encounter between the two teams, so the final promises to be an exciting clash.

In Camp Hill Futsal League 2, The Gentlemen remain undefeated after four games and top the table ahead of second placed Dynamo Chicken Kiev. Veterans Game of Throw Ins and Show Me Da Mane are in third and fourth spot respectively, with eight points apiece. Newcomers L F are in fifth place, after picking up their first win against Futsal Fetish on Monday.

NF Tractor Collective FC continued their strong start to the Somerville Futsal League 2 season after a close-fought 1-0 win over last place Horndogs. Kings of Brisbane are undefeated in second place, with a game in hand. The Doubtful Team and Six Offenders round out the top four.

It’s a familiar tale at the top of La Macelleria Monday Mixed, with veterans Norfolk & Chance first, followed closely by GOLAZOS and Untouchables. Fourth placed CF Dos Flamingos are nine points in arrears and will be looking to close the gap to the leaders as we approach the halfway point of the season. They face newcomers Arse N All in a double points game next week.

In Grill’d Futsal League 1 Mixed, PADDINGTON PANSIES have opened up a five point lead at the top of the table, with both Friend in Cheeses and We are on FIRE within touching distance in second and third respectively. KEMARI have arguably under-performed this season, yet are still on course for the finals in fourth place, and will be hoping to gain momentum in their double points clash against We Are on FIRE next week. Star player Besa Biba leads the Golden Boot race with nine goals.

Quick Response have maintained their undefeated record in Grill’d Futsal League 2 Mixed, after a 5-1 win over fourth placed All Gear No Idea. They’ve now won 12 and drawn one, opening up a nine point gap to second placed Damaged Goods. Mavericks Mixed are comfortably placed in third spot with 21 points.

As we approach the finals in The Spaghetti House Wednesday Men’s leagues, this evening’s top of the table Div. 1 clash sees Soton Express take on Dr Waters Redux in what promises to be a scintillating encounter. Berocca Juniors face Lock Stock & Two Smoking Carrolls in the other match.

In Div. 2, table-toppers Underwater Squad have a four point lead over second placed Molyballers. Third placed Muy Picante are pipping Trip Hazard on goal difference before the two teams clash tonight in a crunch fixture. Team Tanguy and FC Rolling Potatoes also face each other, with both teams looking to claim maximum points to keep their finals hopes alive.

And it’s neck and neck at the top of our Ballistic Brewing Co. Thursday Men’s league, with both Undefeated and UnAthletico Madrid on 45 points each. Undefeated are exactly that after 15 games and are yet to drop a point, with UnAthletico Madrid having played an extra two games with two losses. Dragonball and NQ Fury are in third and fourth respectively and will be looking to cement their finals places.

Good luck to all teams over the coming match weeks, especially those contesting finals. Remember also that you can view highlights of all games played at Montague Road here.
